Tällä kertaa haastattelussa San Diego -räppäri Jay Swiss.
What's up, Jay Swiss? First off, how are you today?
What's up, what it do. I'm Gucci.
Tell us where are you from and where do you live now?
My name is J-Swiss, I'm from San Diego, California, USA.
What music were you listening to when you were young? What was your introduction to rap?
I grew up off of N.W.A., Tha Dogg Pound, Scarface, Westside Connection, Tupac and E-40.
As far as what made me follow music, well, it's always been in me. I grew up in a household where music was everything, we always listened to music and as years went by, I got closer and closer to music to point where I develop a passion for it.
I started off me and a few friends with a lil bit of equipment and from that point on I was making music. It wasn't easy and still isn't to this day, it takes money to produce a quality sound. Also I felt like I had to prove myself with the music for anybody to take me serious and fuck with me. As I made more songs I gained more support from other artist to producers.
How long have you been making music now, as J-Swiss?
I started rappin when I was 16, I'm 32 now.
What do you think of rap music today?
I think rap music today is different, but the same if that makes sense. Nowadays you don't got to have no major deal to get on, it' a open market, but yet a lot of competition. As far as today's sound, the beats and way people say things are different, but it's the same shit.
What rappers are you currently listening to?
I'm currently listening to Dave East, Mozzy and Nipsey Hussle.
Your all-time favorite albums – three records if possible?
1. Cee Wee 3 - Still Dreaming
2. Nipsey Hussle - Crenshaw
3. J. Stalin - Prenuptial Agreement
You just released your new album 'Hazardous Material'. What was it like writing and recording the album?
I would describe this to be a real personal album. A lot of emotions, feelings, pain and happiness took place in the making of this album.
How do you put a song together? Do you record sober?
When I make music, I just zone out and let words come out, sometimes I'm loaded, sometimes I'm sober. lol.
What message do you want your music to deliver to people?
I guess you can call it ghetto or hood stories. I tell a lot of stories about living in a inner city, growing up as a black male from my perspective and section.
What is one thing people don't know about J-Swiss?
One thing people don't know about me besides music, growing up I loved basketball. I always wanted to play ball, but being that I ain't that tall, I let the basketball go. lol.
What is your favorite hot sauce?
My favorite hot sauce is called Louisiana.
What is next for you? What are some of your goals for 2019?
Rite now I'm in the making of my next project, just started writing and recording. For all the readers and listeners, just know this is only the beginning and I got much more to come.
Thanks for your time! Finally, any last words to our readers?
Much love to the fans and people who support my music.
